François-Joseph Schichan advises clients on geopolitics and European affairs across a range of sectors, including financial services, energy and digital.

Prior to joining Flint, François-Joseph was a career diplomat in the French diplomatic service. He spent ten years as a political adviser to various Ambassadors and represented French interests in major negotiations, including the Paris Agreement on climate change in 2015 and the Brexit negotiations from 2017 to 2021. His last posting was head of the Political Department of the French Embassy in the UK, advising the Ambassador on EU affairs, UK politics and EU-UK relations throughout the Brexit negotiations.

Before coming to London, he was posted at the French Embassy in New Delhi. Earlier in his career, he led France’s work on China-France and EU-China relations at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Francois-Joseph is a regular commentator in French media on EU and UK politics and policy.
