Shahril Hamdan is a Senior Adviser at Flint Global. He advises clients on policy, political and regulatory issues in Southeast Asia, with a particular focus on Malaysia.

For over a decade, Shahril was in public life with various leadership positions in UMNO and Barisan Nasional, which were the governing coalition for much of Malaysia’s history. Latterly, he held a senior role in government as Economic Director in the Prime Minister’s office, where he co-developed the 12th Malaysia Plan tabled by the Prime Minister, a five-year economic planning document to steer policy from 2021-2025.

Alongside his career in the public sector, Shahril was a management consultant at McKinsey and Company, ran an oilfield services company, and syndicated a number of venture deals in Southeast Asia. He co-hosts Malaysia’s top current affairs podcast, Keluar Sekejap.
