James Heath brings extensive experience in public policy, strategy and senior level experience in technology, media & telecommunications and economic infrastructure.
We are delighted that James Heath will be joining Flint as a Partner based in London following his departure as Chief Executive of the UK’s National Infrastructure Commission (NIC). James will support clients across a range of policy issues with a focus on infrastructure.
The NIC (an executive agency of HM Treasury) advised the UK government on strategy and policy for economic infrastructure: transport, energy, digital communications, water and wastewater, flood defences and waste. Previously, James was Director, Digital Infrastructure at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport, responsible for advising Ministers on broadband, mobile and telecoms security, and overseeing the 5G Trials Programme. Prior to joining the UK government, James was Director, Policy at the British Broadcasting Corporation, responsible for public policy, government relations and regulation.
Before taking up this role James followed the UK government’s Business Appointment Rules procedure. He will not advise any clients on infrastructure until the publication of the 10 Year Infrastructure Strategy which he was involved in.
About his new appointment, James said ‘‘There is a huge infrastructure gap between the assets we have today and those we need to drive growth, net zero and resilience. The only credible route to closing this gap is sustained private sector investment and innovation. How can smart policy and regulation incentivise investment for the long-term? And how can we build better infrastructure faster and cheaper? The answer to these questions lies in close dialogue between government, regulators, investors, supply chains and infrastructure operators. I’m delighted to be joining Flint to work with its clients and superb team to support this important conversation.’’
Alex White, Managing Partner who leads Flint’s investor's service work said “I am delighted that James is joining us. We have an outstanding infrastructure team, which will be further strengthened by his arrival. James has a real wealth of experience which will help us continue to provide the best possible advice to our clients”
