Charlie supports clients on major transactions, governance and strategic business issues.
Charlie was a partner at Ashurst, the global law firm, from 1991 to 2014 where he advised companies and private equity firms on their transactions and governance issues across many jurisdictions.
He was elected as Ashurst’s Senior Partner in 2009 during which time he led the Firm in its combination with a major Australian firm creating a £600m business across 24 offices.
From 2014 to 2019 Charlie led the Corporate Practice at the US firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher in London where he was also Global Co-Chair of Private Equity.
Since then Charlie has served on a number of corporate boards in the financial services and energy sectors. He is Chair of Council at Surrey University, Deputy Chair at The Institute of Cancer Research and has been appointed by the government to Chair a Taskforce looking at accelerated settlement in financial markets.
